 Keynote Address—Charles Bowden, journalist, author of 21 books, recipient of 17 literature awards , and essayist (Most recent: January 2008 NGS Magazine “The Emptied Prairie”)

 Can be taken for graduate credit and used to renew Title I reading or math credentials

 Activities using GIS (Geography Information Systems), Geocaching (introduction to life-time sport), GPS activities, and Google Earth

 The AZ Geographic Alliance will present a GeoLiteracy & GeoMath program integrating reading, writing, math and geography for K-8 (170 lessons, free CDs)

 Concurrent high school sessions include Environmental Geography and ND Demographics

 Field Trips—Historical Bismarck-Mandan area

 Discussions and presentations of the National Geography and ND Social Studies Standards

 Six member panel discussing “Geography in Real Time (Panel members will represent Geography-related careers)

 Gwyn Herman and Laverne Johnson, authors of the ND Studies textbooks; W “Jack” Jackson, author of North Dakota Oddities

 All registrants receive 1-year subscription to NGS magazine of choice, 1-year membership to NDGA, personal business cards, free maps, posters, and other classroom materials
