The students will play a stick game and learn number order skills, group odd and even numbers , and develop addition and subtraction facts.

Mathematics:Needs Assessment/Rational
To meet the standards in math for the students in Grade Two. According to the statewide assessments indicated that knowledge of math facts was below normal. Extra help and reinforcement in this area is needed.
Equipment/Materials Needed
Numbered popsicle sticks (1-100), container for sticks, paper, pencils
Understandings & Goals
I would like the students to develop a better understanding of their math facts, the concept of odd and even numbers, and the number order to 100.
Questions Answered
Objectives: 1) The students will be able to quickly recall math facts. 2) The students will be able to say what numbers are odd and what numbers are even. 3) The students will be able chant the numbers from 1-100.
Assessment
Observation of students participating in the games. Ask the students some questions in their group activity. The students will write their number combinations on paper and share with the rest of the class. The students papers will be handed in to check for understanding.
Instructional Strategies
The students are doing cooperative learning in the various math group activities.They will all end with their own product. These they will share with their groups. Being able to play the games cooperatively will be observed.
Procedures
Task: 1) Students are divided into groups according to ability level. Each student will take turns choosing 10 sticks and performs the individual group acrtivity. Task:2) Group 1: The student uses his sticks to order the sticks in numerical order. Task:3) Group 2: The student uses the sticks to categorize odd and even numbers. Task:4) Group 3: The student uses three sticks to develop fact families in addition and subtraction. Final Product: The students will write their number combinations on paper and share with the rest of the class.
