Links of a Legend
For grade(s) 2.
The students will retell the legend, The Legend of the Indian Paintbrush, using strips of paper and connecting them to make a story chain.

English Language Arts:Needs Assessment/Rational
The statewide assessments indicated that written language was a weakness in the second grade classroom. The students completed the activities and were graded on the completion of each child’s project.
Equipment/Materials Needed
Book- The Legend of the Indian Paintbrush, 7- 2 x 3 inches construction paper strips, glue, pencils, pictographs for students to copy.
Understandings & Goals
The students will be able to retell a story in chronological order in written form.
