The Missouri River Educational Cooperative (MREC)is organizing a Standard Based Education Facilitator Training to be conducted by Peg Portcheller and Ava Lanes. The Facilitator Training is intended to support key educators in implementing Standards Based Education in their schools. This initiative will further support a change in schools by training key educators in schools and in the state in the facilitation of SBE. The Facilitator Trainings will be conducted on dates just prior to, or, at the conclusion of, three of the scheduled two day sessions of the SBE Series during the 2011 – 12 school term. In order to attend the SBE Facilitator Training each participant must have completed, or will be completing, the full SBE Series of five sessions.

So many times professional development is focused on a one or two day workshop and educators are then expected to follow up and implement the new learning into their classrooms which many times results in limited success.  The SBE Series incorporates five – two day sessions of training and is presented by nationally recognized presenters, Peg Portcheller and Ava Lanes.  The Facilitator Training is intended to support the actual implementation of SBE into the classroom. MREC staff will also be trained as facilitators and will be available to support schools in the implementation of SBE in their schools as well.

The Facilitator Training will be limited to approximately 25 school district leaders, principals, and instructional coaches. Registrations will be accepted on a first come first served basis.
